Samsung Canada Commits $1 Million
to Canadian Public Education
Samsung Canada made a major commitment to Canadian public education, pledging $1 million in Solve for Tomorrow school technology grants in 2014. Samsung started the Solve for Tomorrow education program in 2010 in North America to raise awareness and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects and demonstrate how they can positively impact our local communities.
Through Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung Canada also hopes to offer 21st century learning opportunities and technology solutions to help reduce the technology gap in classrooms.

Samsung partners with The Brick and the
Edmonton Public School Board
To continue its leadership in sustainability, Samsung Canada partnered with The Brick and the Edmonton Public School Board to collect and recycle e-waste over the month of October.
Rutherford School was awarded the top prize of a $15,000 technology grant courtesy of Samsung Canada, as its students collected a whopping 80 pounds (36 kg) per student—the highest per student average.
SECA 25th Anniversary Day
To celebrate Samsung’s 25th Anniversary in Canada on September 21st, all employees of Samsung Canada will be doing their part to give back to their local community. Employees will be participating in one of 10 community events across Toronto, Montreal and Burnaby designed to support local charities through Samsung Hope for Children.
Play 60 comes to Canada
This spring NFL players will be bringing the powerful Play 60 message to students at four Canadian schools through the league's Take a Player to School program.
Canadian Olympic Gala
Samsung Canada is proud to support the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) annual Hall of Fame Induction weekend. For 60 years, the COC has honoured the accomplishments of Canada's most distinguished Olympic athletes, coaches and builders, and at the same time raised proceeds to help fund young athletes in their preparations for future Olympic Games. Samsung Canada is a silver sponsor of the 2012 event in Toronto in September.
Samsung Hope for Children Employee Grants
Beginning in the summer of 2012, Samsung Canada employees who are personally involved in local CSR programs, are invited to submit proposals to the Samsung Hope for Children Employee Grants program. Grants of various amounts are awarded through an internal selection process approximately every three months.
Hockey Canada Foundation Gala
Samsung Canada, guests from its partner organizations and Canadian hockey fans were out in full force to support Canada’s favourite sport at the Hockey Canada Foundation Gala hosted in Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. The star-studded gala event was held to honour the first group of inductees into the Order of Hockey in Canada, a who’s who of hockey made up of Jean Béliveau, Cassie Campbell, Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Gordon Renwick.
E-Waste Learning Portal
As a leader in technology and sustainability, Samsung Canada recognized that e-waste was this little understood issue that was growing in importance across Canada.
To address this issue, Samsung Canada and the Green Living Show created the Passion for E-recycling School Challenge. The multifaceted program consisted of elements designed to raise awareness of e-waste issues and encourage Canadians to dispose of their e-waste in a sustainable way.
