Which schools are eligible to participate?

All Canadian publicly funded schools are eligible to participate. Schools that are publicly funded but outside of the provincially-run school board/district/division system, such as Charter Schools in Alberta and Federally-funded schools in FNMI communities, are eligible to apply if they meet the grade requirements.

Do I have to be a STEM teacher?

No, this contest is open to ALL teachers from Grade 6-12, regardless of the subject taught. However, the topic of this contest does focus on STEM specifically.

Does it matter what my class size is?

No, class size is not a factor. Limited to one (1) class and/or student club (ex: Science Club) per school.

Do I have to break the class into groups or can this be an exercise for the whole class?

How you divide your classes is entirely up to you. You should do what works best for your teaching style and the dynamic of your class.

What will be included in the Regional Finalist Samsung Technology Kit?

Each Regional Winner will receive a Samsung technology package consisting of a Galaxy S8, Galaxy Tab A, Gear 360 and Gear VR. Each package will also include a copy of the Official Rules, an information sheet and all documents which must be completed and returned in order to participate in the next phase.

Do I have to use the products Samsung provides for making the video?

Yes, in order to keep an equal playing field among all participants, the equipment provided needs to be used.

Do I have to return the equipment provided?

No, the Regional Winner Samsung Technology Kit is for your school to keep.
