Samsung's S.T.A.R. Program is a free service brought to you by Samsung & FedEx for consumers willing to take responsibility in helping to keep the environment clean.
Launched in 2005, the S.T.A.R. (Samsung Takeback And Recycling) Program aims not only to address the growing environmental problem of waste printer consumables in landfills, but also to set a new benchmark for voluntary manufacturer's cartridge return schemes in our industry.
The Samsung STAR program's firm promise is that every returned empty cartridge is safely and responsibly recycled; unlike some manufacturer's return programs, they are never incinerated or sent to landfills.
All returned cartridges are recycled back into useful materials, which then go on to become new products again. Any parts that cannot be recycled are treated and disposed of in a way that causes minimal environmental impact. Samsung is investigating how to reuse the recycled materials back into new cartridges. This ensures that the maximum value from each returned cartridge is obtained at the smallest environmental cost.
