More than $1,000,000 Raised for Joe Torre’s Foundation to Date Through Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope/Circuit City Program

Ridgefield Park, NJ – The New York Yankees will once again help in the fight against domestic violence every time they swing for the fences at Yankee stadium this year thanks to a special promotion sponsored by Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope, a national goodwill program benefiting children and families, and Circuit City, one of the country’s leading consumer electronics retailers. Throughout the 2005 season, through the Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run for Kids program, Circuit City will donate $1,000 to the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation each time a New York Yankee player hits a home run at Yankee Stadium. Founded by Yankee Manager Joe Torre in 2002, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation is dedicated to developing and funding educational programs that will help end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives.

Beginning on Opening Day, April 3, 2005, fans can follow the Circuit City-Samsung Home Run For Kids effort on the YES Network, where home runs scored and money pledged will be tallied during each game broadcast. The Home Run For Kids count will culminate in a check presentation at the end of the season with Joe Torre, Samsung and Circuit City as they announce the total dollars raised during the promotion.

“We are proud to once again be a part of Joe Torre’s initiative to educate communities about preventing domestic violence,” said Peter Weedfald, senior vice president, sales and marketing consumer electronics & North American corporate marketing, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. ”The Circuit City-Samsung Home Run for Kids brings the Safe at Home Foundation to the forefront with each Yankee home run, giving the hometown fans an even bigger reason to cheer for their favorite players.”

Joe Torre said, “I am grateful to Samsung and Circuit City for partnering again this year with the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation. The Home Run for Kids program has made the Foundation a household name and has empowered victims of domestic violence to create new lives for themselves.”

“Circuit City is honored to take part in the Home Run for Kids program again this year and help domestic violence victims start new lives,” said Doug Moore, senior vice president, chief merchandising officer at Circuit City. “We’re looking forward to another great Yankee season and hope to see even more home runs hit this year.”

The Circuit City-Samsung Home Run For Kids promotion is part of Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope, a year round national goodwill program that brings together four of the world’s greatest sports legends and their respective charities – golf’s Arnold Palmer and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children, football’s Boomer Esiason and the Boomer Esiason Foundation, basketball’s Magic Johnson and the Magic Johnson Foundation, and Joe Torre – for unique retail programs that aim to improve the quality of life for children and families who face major challenges. Legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi has also joined Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope as the official musician.

In addition to the Home Run For Kids, Samsung, Circuit City and Joe Torre will team up for a National retail promotion that benefits The Safe At Home Foundation later this year.
