About the j.k. livin' Foundation
The j.k. livin Foundation was established in 2005 to offer support to individuals in need, especially those affected by Hurricane Katrina. However, after Matthew and Camila Alves had their first child together, they decided to take the foundation to the next level and begin operating programs to benefit youth in their communities.
The j.k. livin foundation mission is simple, but impactful: to help teenage kids lead active lives and make healthy choices so they can become great men and women. The j.k. livin Foundation was designed to work with our nation’s schools to reach the maximum number of children with the greatest needs.
They have partnered with Communities in Schools (CIS), the nation’s largest, non-profit, dropout prevention organization, to implement fitness and wellness programs in large inner-city high schools in our community. In their afterschool program, they encourage students to improve their physical and mental health through exercise, teamwork, gratitude, and positive life choices. In these programs their kids gain confidence, a better attitude, self-reliance, and hope for a great future. The work CIS provides keeping kids in the classroom through graduation enables the j.k. livin afterschool programs to help these kids get a healthy start today, so they can make a better tomorrow.
